What class reps do

A link between school and families.

Class reps are volunteers who connect class teachers with parents and The Friends of Ashley (FOA) with each class group.

  • Pass on teacher messages, updates from The FOA and event reminders.
  • Help coordinate volunteers for class trips and share calls for helpers at The FOA's events.
  • Gather parent contact information and manage class collections for teacher gifts.
  • Organise social events for classes or year groups.

You don't need to summarise every school newsletter or email, and being a rep doesn't automatically mean leading a stall or event. School concerns should go directly to the school; reps aren't school staff or referees for disagreements in class groups.

Sharing responsibilities with other reps can make the role less time-intensive, but each class can choose how it works.
